The movie's characters George Valentin, with his Jack Russell Terrier, Uggie and Peppy Miller on his arm, charm us through Hollywood's transition from silent films to 'talkies'. The film gives tribute to silent stars the likes of Clara Bow, John Gilbert, Greta Garbo, Charlie Chaplin and more and pays homage to dozens of movies, including A Star Is Born, Singing In The Rain, Citizen Kane, Vertigo, The Thin Man and Douglas Fairbanks's Zorro.

This film is a treasure chest full of what makes us love the art form.
