Climatic scene from the film...............
Cabiria (Guiletta Masina), duped and scorned by her lover, lies with her face in the dirt and we feel her unimaginable loneliness and shame. As night approaches, she lifts herself up and wanders aimlessly until she enters an enchanted road, the kind that only Felini could conjure. She is surrounded by young revelers, singing and dancing and as she joins the celebration march, she allows herself to be healed by their joy and love.
In the final scene, Cabiria turns to us, the viewers and arrests us with her eyes. In that millisecond she transmits a bolt of acceptance and compassion for herself and us, the likes of which I have never before experienced in film or in life.
Giulietta Masina, Francois Perier, Amedeo Nazzari, Franca Marzi, Dorian Gray : Directed Federico Fellini
